Federico Augusto el Fuerte, tambi\u00e9n conocido como Augusto II de Polonia, no s\u00f3lo fue un gran mecenas de las artes, la arquitectura y la artesan\u00eda, sino tambi\u00e9n un apasionado defensor de las ciencias. Le interesaba especialmente la astronom\u00eda, que requer\u00eda instrumentos de medici\u00f3n y relojes precisos. personalidad destacada que estuvo estrechamente vinculada a la corte sajona es Johann Christian Friedrich Gutkaes, relojero de la corte y maestro relojero de la corte de Dresde, que contribuy\u00f3 notablemente al desarrollo de la relojer\u00eda sajona. Gutkaes naci\u00f3 en Dresde en 1747, en el seno de una familia de relojeros, y aprendi\u00f3 el oficio de relojero desde la base. <br \/>\n<br \/>\nGracias a su excepcional talento y a su pasi\u00f3n por la relojer\u00eda, Gutkaes pronto obtuvo reconocimiento en la corte del rey Federico Augusto el Fuerte.
